For Spring Summer 20, we continue to work with our friends at Meg Company in L.A. to produce a third "W'menswear's x Yuketen" collaboration. Developed specially to accompany the upcoming W'menswear SS20 collection titled ‘Goodness may come from the Universe’s most unexpected places’
Made exclusively for W'menswear by Yuketen, the Tektite Sandal design is inspired by the pioneering scientists of the Tektite II and the group of all-female scientists who spent more than two weeks conduction research under the oceans of the US Virgin Islands.
To understand how Tektite II came about, let us teleport back in time to the Cold War. During the period of geopolitical tension between the United States and Russia, both had developed many new and advance technologies, one of them being the ocean mapping technology from the submarine. This technology provided scientific explanations that revolutionize our understanding of the geology of the seafloor and the unexpected discovery of Earth's Deepest Point - Mariana Trench. The discovery sparks the period of an incredibly exciting time in ocean exploration and later the creation of Tektite habitat, an underwater laboratory and home to the pioneering scientists of the Tektite II.
Let's get down to the specs.
The shoe form is based on a primitive Mexican huarache style called “El Macizo.” Upper leathers are completely hand-cut and hand-woven by using Yuketen’s special soft vegetable-tanned leather, which affords a soft touch on the wearer’s foot for endless comfort. The simple knotted side closure makes it easy to adjust the fitting.
Unlike the stiff and heavy recycled tire soles on the traditional huaraches, this style features the Vibram’s lightweight oil resisting unite sole, which was designed for maximum grip, durability, and traction. Yuketen’s Cruz is the recommended selection for truly comfortable footwear when trekking in sub-tropical climates. Artisan made in the Mexico - Unisex fit - Vegetable-tanned leather upper - Vibram unit Sole
These artisan-made sandals are currently on Pre-Order and will ship on March 10th. If you would like more information or to order a pair for the upcoming Summer, email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
