We’re starting a new segment at the blog and its called Desktop. Low and behold we’re featuring things that inspire us in the studio. With issue one, we’ve gone all out on our favourite things that make us tick, like handmade French marble paper, a handmade saddle stitched leather card case by Chester Mox, oversized military pins that are the best for putting keys on, a nautical 100 day calendar, Scottish made watch by great people who go by the name ’Instrument’, notebook by Imprimerie du Marais, Nigel Cabourn’s book on Scott’s Last Expedition, and an antique hunting dog desk ornament. Connect the dots.
We had an absolute blast shooting around NYC and Paris with Bill Gentle (a.k.a Backyard Bill). You can check out our guides for both respective places but here are the funnest pictures that Bill kept for himself. Very Salty.
Made By Legacy, our favourite Bangkok flea event of the year, and a bit of a show for people and their rad styles. This year we set up a little portrait booth to show you just what we’re on about and to have a little bit of fun.
Let’s take you over to London where Nigel Cabourn just had his Winter 16 showing of the Lybro and Authentic collections at the Army Gym flagship store.
Presenting our first w’menswear editorial for 2016! We’re here to talk about the trouser silhouette and what is floating our boat this year. As we always say, finding the right shape for your own body type is something that transcends trend - the coolest thing you can do for yourself.
2016 is a big year for the studio, we are launching our own line of workwear for women appropriately called W’menswear and we couldn’t be more excited about it. So this Northern Hemisphere winter our first drop will arrive in stores and we would like to share the whole journey with you, starting with the look book story.
Here’s our end-of-the-year homage to getting your hands dirty, awareness of self and forever keeping things fresh. I have curated some great unisex grooming products that focus on a powerful idea, rather than a distinction between man or woman for Vogue Australia.
We found some of our favourite shapes from our vintage archives surface for Sessun Spring Summer 16, and it perfectly sums up how a salty lady should have these staple pieces for their own, old or new.
This week we welcomed Saturdays NYC to Bondi beach ! A very fitting setting tucked around the corner from some of the bluest waters and funnest waves possible. So we are excited to see their new space in Bondi evolve with its landscape, and mirror the goodness and laid-back-ness that comes with the Aussie way.
We helped style what we do best, vintage workwear pieces to help visualise a story for the upcoming ladies’ Cabourn x Lybro season. Our research into women at work during WW2 has lead us down this elegant pathway that painted a platform in the discourse of feminine identity. We are fascinated with the idea that women express their femininity, not only instinctually but in pushing our ability and intellects. That’s why we draw so much inspiration from the greatness that grew from this romantic era.
It is our duty here is to point your noses towards goodness. We are pushing for a new, inconspicuous definition of that really overused word, ’luxury’. So here is our combined effort to continue expressing freedoms that come with existence. The freedom to continue in a climate of much political strangeness, and the freedom to show the world what goodness is really made of. Presenting, Good-Manners
