The natural skincare world is blossoming (pun intended) and we are faced with limitless choice from head to toe. I would say that Australia has proven to be a huge market, and we are becoming much more aware about the importance of reducing our exposure to chemicals in daily life. I would also like to add that we have rediscovered the super zen experience that comes with botanical aromatics and their medicinal properties. So all this tells me that we have found our new focus on luxury – that is, a return to goodness from the Earth and the idea that we can become more grounded people if we cherish it.
So just before the holidays start, I would like to draw you into the sacred art of bathing. To some people the bathroom become a little shrine to focus attention inwards, bringing out the almost-meditative state that comes with the sound of running water. Showering in the morning is a new awareness of the just broken day, and for me, it’s space to think without anyone to break my thoughts.
Here’s my end-of-the-year homage to getting your hands dirty, awareness of self and forever keeping things fresh. I have curated some great unisex grooming products that focus on a powerful idea, rather than a distinction between man or woman.
Presenting my favourite natural smells and suds that are powerful enough to hold me in a moment, via Vogue Australia.
Left Ursa Major’s all natural deodorant smells like eucalyptus, ginger, rosemary, grapefruit, chamomile and lemon. On the right, Triumph & Disaster’s YLF body wash. It smells like Sandalwood and Neroli / Pictured at the top of the page on the left, Gentlemen’s Brand Co. have just started to make a natural perfume roll that smells like a walk through the woods. It’s a salty blend of essential oils and great to massage on weary temples. On the right is Fiele Fragrances’ Pogostemon perfume. It’s warm, earthy, and sweet from pepper, vanilla, cedar, patchouli, ylang ylang, bergamot, cacao, and many other delicious things.
