WHAT GOES INTO A RAD SURF MAG / COFFEE WITH TRIM

Matt is the editor of Trim, a beautiful surf publication from sunny Hawaii, so travelling between Japan and the Pacific paradise, he has latched onto a wonderful way of being. In his magazine, you’ll find great archival imagery of early indigenous surfing all the way to some superb boards shaped by water spirits who have found passion in craft. We asked him a few things about what floats his boat

A REFLECTION OF NOWNESS, AND WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2016.

A REFLECTION OF NOWNESS, AND WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2016.

We look back on 2015 from how the internet has changed our social behaviour, to the way we do business, and project our thoughts on how trend will be a vanishing elephant in the future. Lauren reflects on some REAL sugar-donuts that she thinks will define who we are in the year to come.

WE GO BACKSTAGE WITH (RE)VISION SOCIETY.

We all are responsible for our destiny through our many little choices that in fact set us on a future path, a trajectory, if you like. The founders of (re)vision society are thinking in a way that could transform manufacturing and the future of industry into a much more efficient, and realistic model. So we went to see their entire design and manufacturing process to get an idea of how it all works and how the system is bound for collapse.

LYN AND TONY DO ‘SCENTED INTOXICATION’ / TOTAL IMMERSION

Introducing, ’Scented Intoxication’, by Lyn and Tony at the Australian Design Centre. A splendid evolution of their work shooting balmy skinned nudes in the bizarre Australian landscape, to hand making wearable objects that lead you on a smoke trail around the outback by texture and materials. More recently, their play with rawness like repurposed leather impregnated with smell, has made way for full-immersion-scale-strangeness. Win.

John Tesoriero lives and breathes our fundamental values about living the funnest life possible, and creating things that speak to quality, functionality, and heritage. WHEN ATELIER DE L’ARMEE CAPTURED THAT SWEET SPOT IN THE UNIVERSE.

There can’t be yin without yang too far away. Elza and Joost of Atelier de l’Armee are the breed of folk who enjoy well made objects that tests the truth of time, and the pockets of fun that inspire us in life. We ’expound’ on how it takes a highly evolved human - or a fine match between two (sometimes opposing) minds - to produce a product that speaks to people today while referencing greatness through history.

PROOF IN THE PUDDING THAT STYLE IS PERSONALITY.

PROOF IN THE PUDDING THAT STYLE IS PERSONALITY.

Chris Olberding is testament to why style is all about what you’re made of, not about what current trend you’re modelling at the moment. He has built Gitman Vintage on some sound life principles, and those iconic shirts speak of his great values, like making a cut off short sleeved number this season, because fun.
