PTJ DOWN UNDER / MY FAVOURITE THINGS TO DO.

PTJ DOWN UNDER / MY FAVOURITE THINGS TO DO.

I was recently asked by a friend to recommend things to do in Sydney so I’ve taken the opportunity to do some flash-backs on some good moments down under. When I’m in town, no matter what season, you’ll probably find me fishing, surfing, bush walking, or eating some of the incredible food that Australia has to offer. So, I find myself reflecting on the things that I value most in a country that is dreamy in its untouched beauty and vast landscape.

There is also incredible produce for people (like me) who are ruled by their stomach. I always find myself slowly wandering up and down the isles of green grocers, deli’s, bakeries, food co-op’s, and butchers. It’s always exciting to see what fruit or vegetable is in season, or what kind of free range meat the butcher has just carved up. A good place to explore a range of produce in Sydney is Harris Farm Markets, where I like to get my seasonal fruit for breakfast, rare vegetables, local cheeses, and salt bush lamb (to name a few). If you’re feeling more adventurous about produce, there are also areas like Cabramatta for tasty Vietnamese food and cooking ingredients; Habberfield for Italian groceries and the cheapest, most delicious ciabatta you’ll ever have; Eastwood for all things Korean; and weekend produce markets that bring producers to you.

If you’re also an outdoorsy person like me, you’ll probably want to rent a car and explore the mountains, rivers, beaches, and dessert. If you’re less of an outback adventurer and more of an urban explorer, I would recommend going to Melbourne for endless city-style things to do. Mind you, Sydney has some of the best eateries in the world if you ask me, and I have included some of my picks to go by.
