A small guide to the people and places around us.

For the “She Rode the Dawn” collection, we visited our neighbors around the Wmenswear Dressing Room to ask for their favorite Bangkok recommendations.

Some Time Blue Cafe by Nan. A dark, moody refuge of old wood, warm mirrors, and afternoon light. Baroque furniture from her father’s former restaurant lends the space its quiet sense of memory.

What are the must-do activities when visiting Bangkok?

Nan: I recommend visiting Forest Park, located near Asoke Rama 4. All of the trees are natural and it opens until quite late so you can go have a stroll around at night, it’s really beautiful. I think it’s opened till 8-9pm.

What are the must-eat foods when visiting Bangkok?

Nan: Som Tam, Roast Beef, and all of the weird dishes such as Grilled Intestines, Raw Spicy Minced Meat Salad with Blood, Spicy Raw Beef Salad, especially with a beer!

What is something that reminds you of your childhood?

Nan: I actually grew up in my Dad’s restaurant. He sold vintage furniture and it was an Italian restaurant near Ratchaprasong. So I actually took all the furniture from that restaurant to use here. His restaurant was called “Some Time”, so since I took the furniture to use here, I decided to name the cafe “Some Time Blue”.

The “Blue” in the name came about because I enjoyed reading dark novels, this would have been more than 10 years ago. I felt like there was nothing wrong about being blue and consuming that genre. Anyone who visits the cafe who feels that way will have something common with me. I hope that our beverages or sweets makes you feel less blue.
